"Guojiao No.1" 10,000-ton Intelligent Cable-Laying Vessel Officially Delivered
On July 3, 2024, the 10,000-ton intelligent cable-laying vessel "Guojiao No.1" constructed by Jiangsu Haixin Shipping Heavy Industry Co., Ltd.(“HAIXIN”) was officially delivered in Nantong, Jiangsu. This vessel represents another "national heavyweight" in China's marine equipment sector.
The " Guojiao No.1" measures 108.6 meters in length and 37.2 meters in width, with a displacement of 24,000 tons—equivalent to a light aircraft carrier. It has a cable-loading capacity of 10,000 tons, capable of carrying 75 kilometers of three-core 220 kV AC submarine cables, 130 kilometers of single-core 200 kV DC submarine cables, or 2,000 kilometers of fiber-optic communication cables, enabling full-voltage-level coverage and multi-scenario cable laying.
The vessel is equipped with a 5-meter-deep trenching plow, a 60-ton gantry deployment system, and a 50-ton crane. It is also the first to adopt a DC electric propulsion system, maximizing power efficiency while promoting energy savings and emission reductions. Equipped with a high-precision navigation and positioning system, it ensures ultra-accurate cable laying.
Traditional submarine cable laying relies on cable cages to lower cables into the water. However, in waters deeper than 40 meters, excessive cable weight can cause abrasion damage. "Guojiao No.1" overcomes this challenge with its self-developed catenary laying system and dynamic positioning system, capable of withstanding Level 9 winds and 4-knot currents while maintaining constant tension and speed during cable deployment, achieving a laying precision of 0.5 meters.
As a core asset in offshore power transmission and transformation projects, submarine cable-laying vessels are vital for China's marine engineering expansion into deep and distant waters. The delivery of this vessel not only highlights HAIXIN's technical prowess in marine equipment manufacturing but also provides robust support for China's "Belt and Road" infrastructure development.
